A tourist visa may be required based on your citizenship and is required for US citizens to enter Brazil. It will also qualify you to purchase and own property in Brazil. This type of visa usually has a limitation on the time a person can spend in the country.

If you decide to acquire permanent residency in Brazil, there are several ways to qualify:

• Investor visa requires investment of R$150,000.00 in the country
• Company Managers or skilled professionals qualify
• Retirees that have pension of at least US$2000.00 per month
• Having a Brazilian spouse or companion
